Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an eVisa, visa-on-arrival, and visa-free entry?
Visa-free — present your passport at the border. No application needed.
eVisa — apply online before departure and receive approval electronically. Must be obtained before you travel.
Visa-on-Arrival — obtain your visa at the airport upon landing. Usually requires cash and passport photographs.
Visa Required — apply in person at an embassy or consulate before travel.
Do I need a transit visa if I am only changing aircraft?
It depends entirely on your nationality and the transit country. The United Kingdom and Schengen Area countries require Airport Transit Visas (ATV) for certain nationalities even when remaining airside. The UAE, Qatar, and Turkey generally do not. Always use our transit checker before booking connecting flights.
Do diplomatic and official passport holders follow different visa rules?
Frequently, yes. Many countries grant visa-free access to diplomatic and official passport holders even when ordinary passport holders require a visa. For example, Indian diplomatic passport holders enter China and Russia visa-free. Select your passport category above to see the rules that apply to you.
What is the Schengen Area?
The Schengen Area comprises 29 European countries that have abolished internal border controls. A single Schengen visa permits travel throughout all member states. Key members: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, and others. Non-EU citizens may stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
Where does your visa information come from?
We compile data from official government sources: gov.uk, travel.state.gov (US Department of State), EU Commission, IATA Timatic (the airline industry standard), and each country's official immigration website — all linked directly in every result for you to verify independently.

Apply From Your Country of Residence — Not Your Country of Citizenship

The most common visa application error. If you hold an Indian passport but reside in Dubai, apply for Schengen and UK visas from Dubai. Embassies reject applications from non-residents without explanation.
